The agreement is expected to be sealed today via an official communique breaking down commitments by the group towards the decarbonization of their economies. The country also added 104 MW of wind energy to its portfolio in operation. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt1\"><\/a><strong>#2- <\/strong><strong>Egypt will secure the sale of two of its wind farms this quarter, IMF says<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that Egypt\u2019s sovereign fund will complete the long-awaited sale of its Gabal El Zeid and Zafarana wind farms in the next couple of months, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2024\/4\/2056.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">staff report (pdf)<\/a>. The sales are expected to reel in a total of USD 639 mn \u2014 USD 339 mn of which will come from the Gabal El Zeit farm, and the other USD 300 mn either from the Zafarana wind complex or an unnamed desalination station. Non-CO2 emissions cannot be tracked with accuracy and that the science needed to measure such emissions and assess their impact is still immature, IATA director general Willie Walsh said. \u201cThe proposal risks creating a regulatory burden that will require airlines to provide large amounts of data for all flights, with an insufficient potential for positive environmental impact,\u201d Walsh added. The proposed \u201cenergy projects\u201d in Malaysia will be implemented with Malaysian integrated renewable energy provider Cypark Resources. href=\"https:\/\/www.act.is\/2024\/04\/29\/actis-fortescue-consortium-awarded-rights-to-develop-green-hydrogen-project-in-oman\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zawya.com\/en\/press-release\/companies-news\/edf-group-j-power-and-yamna-consortium-awarded-a-1-mtpa-green-ammonia-project-in-oman-c0s0efix\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>. The investment ticket of the two projects combined total USD 11 bn, according to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/timesofoman.com\/article\/144959-hydrom-signs-green-hydrogen-projects-worth-11bn-in-dhofar\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Times of Oman<\/a>, which added that the agreements bring Oman\u2019s total planned hydrogen production to 1.38 mn tons per year by 2030. The signings follow the completion of Hydrom\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/eb464c30-c3fd-4da8-b4a4-b5b69bcfc07f\/today:-a-first-of-its-kind-bess-consortium-has-formed-%2B-cyvn-buys-an-additional-13.1%2525-stake-in-nio\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">second round of auctions<\/a> launched in June 2023, which Hydrom said was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/10958daf-d085-4a87-84ea-73cfe69ff0a7\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">looking to raise USD 20-30 bn<\/a> in investments from. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>First up, the Actis-led consortium agreement: <\/strong>A two-party consortium led by UK-based private equity outfit <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.act.is\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Actis<\/a> and includes Australian green energy firm <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fortescue.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Fortescue<\/a> signed an agreement with Hydrom to develop, build, own and operate a 200k ton per year green hydrogen facility currently in its feasibility stage, the statement said. The agreement includes the construction of 4.5 GW of wind and solar plants which will be used to power the electrolyzers. The green hydrogen produced will both be sold to local industrial offtakers, as well as processed into green ammonia for export via the Salalah port.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Next, the EDF consortium: <\/strong>A consortium led by France\u2019s state-owned energy firm EDF Group including Japanese electricity generator Electric Power Development (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpower.co.jp\/english\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">J-Power<\/a>) and UK green hydrogen and ammonia producer <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/yamna-co.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Yamna<\/a> signed an agreement with Hydrom to develop, build, own, operate and maintain a green ammonia project. The plant will have a capacity to produce 1 mn tons per year, according to the statement. The consortium plans to build 4.5 GW of wind and solar stations coupled with battery storage and a 2.5 GW electrolyser. The produced hydrogen would then be supplied to an ammonia plant to be built in the Salalah Free Zone. The project will aim to produce 178k tons per year of green hydrogen by 2030, the Times of Oman reported. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The EDF consortium secured land too:<\/strong> The EDF consortium signed a sub-usufruct agreement for a 341 sqkm bloc of land in Dhofar to be allocated for the development of the newly signed project for a period of 47 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER- Hydrom is supporting Oman\u2019s goal to become a global green hydrogen hub: <\/strong>Hydrogen <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/0b795b98-4cd4-406f-b00d-4bef0dcd0141\/oman%25e2%2580%2599s%253cmark%253e-hydrom%253c%2Fmark%253e-talks-green-hydrogen-and-ammonia-exports-with-germany%25e2%2580%2599s-vng\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">signed an agreement<\/a> with German gas importer VNG AG in March to explore the feasibility of establishing a green hydrogen and ammonia value chain between the two countries.
