Shell purchased a 35% stake in the project in January 2023.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;font-family:\" arial\";line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"=\"\"><strong>REMEMBER- The GEO consortium secured some land for the megaproject from Hydrom in June: <\/strong>Oman\u2019s state-owned hydrogen company Hydrom granted 320 sq km to the Green Energy Oman consortium <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/f55f6918-4f7c-49d1-912f-122079557fdb\/oman-awards-three-green-hydrogen-blocks-at-an-estimated-investment-ticket-of-usd-20-bn\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">in June<\/a> for a hydrogen plant that is powered by 4 GW of renewable energy, and with the capacity to generate c.150k tons of the green fuel. Hydrom said in March of last year that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/40455595-d905-4d49-a583-ee97e18a20cb\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">GEO<\/a> will cover an area of 337 sq km and will generate volumes at around 3.3 GW of electricity and 150k tons of green hydrogen. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;font-family:\" arial\";line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"=\"\"><strong>IN OTHER OMAN NEWS-<\/strong><strong>Oman <\/strong><strong>issues bonds and sukuk regulations: <\/strong>Oman\u2019s Financial Services Authority (FSA) has issued new bond and sukuk regulations, including green and sustainable bonds and sukuks, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fsa.gov.om\/Home\/SearchNews\/9555\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. The amendment \u2014 which comes in efforts to expand investments in green projects \u2014 outlines the systems, devices, and equipment needed to install renewable plants that are exempt from customs duties and subject to a zero-rated general sales tax. The new law adopts the net billing principle, which allows power producers to sell excess energy onto the national grid.
