The project will be built on property owned by Srpska\u2019s Ministry of Internal Affairs. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Masco Group already has projects in the pipeline:<\/strong> The company currently has a hydrogen extraction facility underway in Srpska, Sarajevo Times writes. The Serbian entity is also looking to collaborate with Masco Group on road infrastructure projects and the use of hydrogen as a fuel for heavy machinery. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a>#2- Amea Power kicks off FEED works for green ammonia plant in Egypt: <\/strong>UAE renewables company Amea Power has started to conduct front end engineering design (FEED) works for its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/21e4cbfc-0a24-4d67-975b-473caa942243\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">green hydrogen-based ammonia production facility<\/a> in Ain Sokhna, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.meed.com\/amea-power-starts-egypt-hydrogen-engineering-works\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Meed<\/a> reported Thursday. The company also tapped an unnamed engineering procurement and construction (EPC) company to begin construction schemes, the company's project development manager Ignacio Carreras told Meed, adding that Amea Power is currently working with a hydrogen electrolyzer and ammonia licensor. The UAE company aims to reach a financial investment decision by the first quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The project has been in the works since 2022: <\/strong>Feasibilitystudies for the project were recently <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/21e4cbfc-0a24-4d67-975b-473caa942243\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">finalized last year.<\/a> Amea first signed an agreement with the Egyptian government to set up a 1 GW green hydrogen plant \u2014 expected to be up and running by 2027 \u2014 on the sidelines of COP27. The company doubled the intended green ammonia production capacity of the project in November to 800k tons per year \u2014 up from the initial 390k tonnes a year, Meed writes. The proposed project also includes the development of 2 GW of renewables to power the 1 GW hydrogen plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a>#3- Egypt\u2019s Golden Coast eyes EGP 7 bn green sukuk issuance in 1H 2024: <\/strong>EGX-listed hospitality and real estate company Golden Coast Company \u2014 subsidiary of Golden Pyramids Plaza \u2014 has hired S&P to conduct a credit rating evaluation for its upcoming EGP 7 bn green sukuk issuance planned for 1H 2024, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailynewsegypt.com\/2024\/03\/02\/golden-coast-hires-standard-poors-for-green-sukuk-rating\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily News Egypt<\/a> reported Saturday, citing sources it says have knowledge of the matter. The funds raised from the issuance will be used to finance Golden Coast\u2019s Soma Bay resort project. Al Ahly Pharos is serving as financial advisor and promoter of the issuance, while Al-Derini and Co. is acting as the legal advisor. The real estate firm was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/30b4fdad-6ee4-4472-a00f-ff9d81668bb2\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">initially looking<\/a> to raise EGP 8 bn through the green sukuk back in August.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#4- Germany\u2019s Siemens Energy has secured a EUR 4 bn revolving credit facility to help <\/strong><strong>finance its struggling Gamesa wind-turbine unit<\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-02-29\/siemens-energy-takes-on-4-billion-credit-line-after-gamesa-loss\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> reported Thursday. The five-year sustainability-linked loan is backed by a consortium of 26 banks and can be extended twice for an additional year. Siemens Gamesa is a major player in Egypt\u2019s wind energy sector. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Siemens Energy is working to bolster its failing business in wind power:<\/strong> The company reviewed its struggling wind business in November after its subsidiary Siemens Gamesa caused <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/3b43c9c8-d93b-4de6-b485-ddbf60296a5c\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">EUR 4.6 bn in annual net losses<\/a> for the group on the back of a substantial increase in failure rates for the turbines' components. It secured a EUR 12 bn credit line from private banks at the time \u2014 partly backed by the German government \u2014 alleviating investor concerns and a potential company shut down. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#5- <\/strong><strong>CBAM <\/strong><strong>faces early challenges: <\/strong>The European Union's <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/dac41906-1485-42fe-b103-9d11a851945c\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">carbon border adjustment<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/dac41906-1485-42fe-b103-9d11a851945c\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">mechanism (CBAM)<\/a> \u2014 set to tax CO2-heavy products from 2026 \u2014 is facing its first administrative hurdles with only a small number of companies able to successfully meet the early reporting deadline for carbon-intensive imports, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/92b56c0b-663e-4820-90b1-533f1f36f08b\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The Financial Times<\/a> wrote on Friday. Nearly 13k reports were submitted by the end of February, primarily concerning imports from China. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Low compliance rates:<\/strong> Less than 10% of German companies and 11% of Swedish companies were able to meet the deadline for reporting on their imports, the FT adds. EU officials stated that the issue is due to the measures being nascent and the ongoing transitional period, adding that proposals are underway to simplify the system. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>There are some vocal critics: <\/strong>Green trade rules are \u201cbiased\u201d against developing nations, India\u2019s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal told the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/51dc962a-6cc0-49ad-b941-0e0942216d63\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Financial Times<\/a> on Thursday, referring to CBAM. Goyal said trade and the environment \u201care two separate issues,\u201d stating that the relevant UN institutions \u201cshould be respected\u201d and \u201callowed to do their job\u201d when it comes to addressing climate change. \u201cBefore we add new environmental issues, let\u2019s first sort out who is responsible for the environmental degradation,\u201d Goyal said, adding that India, which accounts for 17% of the world\u2019s population, produces only 3% of the world\u2019s emissions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">DANGER ZONE- <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Global waste production will likely rise by two-thirds by 2050 causing USD 640.3 bn in <\/strong><strong>environmental and economic damage<\/strong>, according to a new <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2024\/2\/2915.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">report (pdf)<\/a> by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Municipal solid waste output alone will increase from 2.3 bn tons in 2023 to 3.8 bn tons by 2050. The giant plant will be completed in partnership with the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.cscec.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC)<\/a> and will be slated for commercial operations by late 2029. The USD 20 mn project \u2014 dubbed Equatic-1 \u2014 will have the ability to remove 3.6k metric tons of CO2 annually and produce 105 metric tons of carbon-negative hydrogen.
