An unknown international consultant was contracted to carry out a feasibility study for the project to upgrade the grid, which includes establishing transmission lines with a voltage of 1k kW, the source added. The country plans to sign agreements for 3.7 GW of renewable energy by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>IN OTHER IRAQ NEWS- <\/strong>Baghdad Municipality plans to select an investment firm in March to develop a 80-90 MW waste-to-energy (WtE) project, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/alsabaah.iq\/91879-.html\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Sabah<\/a> reported on Thursday, citing the Municipality\u2019s Environment and Solid Waste Department assistant director Karim Azab. The project will have a capacity to process 3k tons of waste daily, and will take 24 months to complete. Iraq is also planning a similar project which will be announced once the land for it is secured, Azab added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt4\"><\/a> <strong>#4- Emirati climate tech angel investors prefer African and MENA markets for growth over <\/strong><strong>traditional ones<\/strong>,according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zawya.com\/en\/press-release\/events-and-conferences\/young-uae-based-climate-tech-angel-investors-favor-african-and-mena-regions-sw7e91jh\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> by Abu-Dhabi based startup accelerator <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/startad.ae\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">startAD<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.venturesouq.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">VentureSouq<\/a>. Senegal's renewables sector was expected to get a boost through a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/93f3ec0c-5d58-4e81-b2d3-8aed04137af1\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">EUR 2.5 bn<\/a> in new and additional financing under the Senegal JETP over three to five years last June.
