The country is eying an 8% share of the global green hydrogen market \u2014 or 5.6 mn tons \u2014by 2040. Egypt is looking to export its hydrogen to Europe, where the market is set to expand after the EU passed a directive requiring green hydrogen to reach 42% of the industrial sector\u2019s energy mix by 2030, and 60% by 2035.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER- The country is expanding its hydrogen goals:<\/strong> The Egyptian government, which said it will operate its first green hydrogen plant in 2026, previously announced the aim to produce up to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/aa1f50ff-35e3-4c14-99e6-a3841edb12d1\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">1.5 mn tons of green hydrogen<\/a> annually by 2030 and to raise production to 5.8 mn tons by 2040 from 72 GW of renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ALSO-<\/strong><strong>Egypt aims to increase renewable energy use to nearly 12% this year:<\/strong> Egypt\u2019s Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has set a new goal of sourcing 11.8% of the country\u2019s energy mix from renewables, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3TZRbZF\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Youm7<\/a> reported on Thursday. The current total renewable energy capacity is 7 GW. In 2022, Egypt sped up its short-term renewables goals, setting a goal to reach <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/egyptoil-gas.com\/news\/egypt-to-accelerate-access-to-renewable-energy-to-42-of-energy-mix-by-2030-el-molla\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">42% renewables by 2030<\/a> instead of the initial 2035 timeline. This however comes in contradiction to its downward revision of its 2040 renewables goal <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.egypttoday.com\/Article\/3\/125407\/Egypt-aims-to-reach-60-of-dependence-on-renewables-by\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">from 60%<\/a> to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/48s6rDa\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">50% by 2040<\/a> last June. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a>#5- <\/strong><strong>Is <\/strong><strong>PIF-backed US EV maker <\/strong><strong>Lucid underperforming?<\/strong>Deliveries by Lucid fell 10% y-o-y to a record low 1.7 vehicles in 4Q 2023 on weak customer demand, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ir.lucidmotors.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/lucid-announces-q4-production-deliveries-sets-date-fourth\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">company statement<\/a> released on Thursday.
