The loan was signed in June with the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG). The Elmed project is estimated to cost EUR 850 mn (c.USD 929 mn).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Others are helping:<\/strong> The EBRD is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/c26978c6-ffee-4475-8ba1-18521f87a113\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">set to sign off in December<\/a> on a sovereign-backed senior loan of up to EUR 45 mn to STEG for the Elmed project with Italy. The EU\u2019s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/70d69804-6273-49af-b582-5c215e4af3cf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">contributing a grant of EUR 307.6 mn<\/a> for the project. Other lenders include the EIB, KfW, and the World Bank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER-<\/strong> The Tunisia-Italy 600 MW subsea interconnector will be <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/7e30e56b-9c5a-45e8-8936-c522af4e4b6d\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">operational by 2029<\/a>, transporting 400-600 MW of clean power generated from hydroelectricity.
