The <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchbook.com\/profiles\/fund\/21346-21F\">Horizon Environment and Climate Solutions fund<\/a> \u2014 launched in 2021 \u2014 provides \u201cgrowth capital\u201d to companies working in sectors including clean energy, sustainable transport, waste, and sustainable agriculture, the statement says. Egypt\u2019s Suez Cement is investing USD 25 mn in plans to generate <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/af61bbd1-13d9-46c6-8c4b-4da56065fd49\">some 20 MW of power<\/a> from the waste heat recovery facility at its Helwan plant. Masdar first agreed to explore renewable energy prospects in Kyrgyzstan back <a href=\"https:\/\/news.masdar.ae\/en\/News\/2022\/04\/15\/12\/08\/Masdar-agrees-to-explore-renewable-energy-opportunities-in-Kyrgyzstan\">in April 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s in the pipeline:<\/strong> Masdar will kick off the agreement with the construction of a 200 MW solar PV plant set to begin operations in 2026, yesterday\u2019s statement noted. It\u2019s unclear whether this is the same solar plant that we reported on <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/b52ff28b-1815-4991-be8a-7d39fb1e0bfa\">in mid-December<\/a> when we noted that the UAE and Kyrgyzstan had signed an agreement to begin the first phase of construction, amid a slew of agreements signed between the two countries in various sectors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What else is planned?<\/strong> Masdar will explore and invest in a variety of potential renewables projects including ground-mounted solar PV, floating solar PV, and hydropower, the statement notes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is all part of Masdar\u2019s ambitious expansion plans: <\/strong>Masdar was established by the UAE\u2019s sovereign wealth fund Mubadala, which <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/8052ae3c-a183-40d2-b3cf-27adc011db77\">recently sold<\/a> stakes in the clean energy firm to the UAE\u2019s state-owned Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa) and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) as part of a push to grow the company both within and beyond MENA. Masdar is aiming for a renewable energy capacity of at least 100 GW by 2030 with a production quota of up to 1 mn tons of green hydrogen, and ultimately plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio to over 200 GW, it noted in December.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And its growth in Central Asia:<\/strong> Masdar signed a joint development agreement with Turkmenenergo State Power Corporation <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/0b79dd67-80d2-4748-9205-5570e208771a\">in November<\/a> to build a 100 MW solar plant in Turkmenistan. Saudi Arabia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/saudiexim.gov.sa\/ar\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Saudi EXIM<\/a> also signed in December an MoU to <a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/52d7d80d-2f55-4f68-b98a-891bce9b5324\">export green hydrogen and ammonia<\/a> to the Korea Trade Ins. Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksure.or.kr\/en\/index.do\">K-Sure<\/a>).
